A Day in the Life

What is a typical day like?

6:15 am – Your pesky alarm goes off and you hit snooze, settling back into your pillow for some precious sleep.

6:24 am – Your alarm goes off again and you decide to get up before one of your roommates throws something at you.

6:30 am – Make it into the shower before any one else in your hall.

7:00 am – Head to the dining hall to do devotions before breakfast.

7:25 am – Head down to the dining hall for a breakfast. Finish the homework assignment due for seminar that day.

8:10 am – Run back to your room to get the notebook you forgot to bring to seminar.

8:14 am – Make it to seminar right before it begins.

8:30 am – Take rapid notes as the instructor goes over the basic principles of Biblical counseling.

11:10 am – Get up in front of chapel with your trio and sing “I Stand Redeemed” for special music.

11:13 am – Sit back down thanking God that you were able to sing without forgetting any of the words.

12:03 pm – Leave chapel and head to lunch excited because you heard the cook made his special Italian chicken.

12:06 pm – Challenge your friend to a game of carpetball as he is serving you corn in the lunch line.

12:45 pm – Put your dishes away. Sit down with a couple people from your church to talk about the game next Sunday on your bus route.

12:58 pm – Look down at your watch and realize if you don’t hurry you’ll all be late to seminar.

12:59 pm – Again, slip into seminar right before it begins.

1:25 pm – Laugh hysterically with your friends as your instructor does impersonations of what not to do when counseling.

2:20 pm – Get out of seminar and go find some much loved Mountain Dew to keep you energized.

5:05 pm – Head to the carpetball table to make good on your challenge to your friend.

5:20 pm – After 15 minutes and about 10 games, finally be willing to declare your friend champion for the day. You’ll beat him tomorrow though!

5:22 pm – Go to your room and change clothes for Service.

5:30 pm – Report to the dining hall for 2 and ½ hours of service today.

8:00 pm – Head down to the coffee shop, order an Italian Soda and play Cranium with a group of friends.

9:15 pm – Go to your room happy because at least you won one game today and work on your Principles and Standards project.

10:00 pm – Meet for dorm devotions in the next room over.

11:00 pm – Get ready for bed, you drew the short straw again today so you’re the first one in the shower tomorrow.
